Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology-NMST Mohammad Munir Chowdhury urged young engineers to use environmentally friendly ‘Hollow’ blocks, instead of burnt bricks in building construction.
He made this appeal to a group of 25 members of the Directorate of Education and Engineering when they visited the Museum on Saturday.
Addressing the young engineers, he said, young engineers must ensure environment-friendly urbanization by giving importance to environmental protection during the construction of buildings, ensuring greening around the buildings, constructing tree fences around the buildings and using ‘hollow technology’ instead of burnt bricks in construction work.
The Director General of the Science and Technology Museum urged them to come out of the traditional development concept, stating that ‘the talent and skills of engineers are unique assets’. Munir Chowdhury also said that cities should ensure tree plantation and reservoir management to protect them from wildfires. They should keep themselves free from the corrupt world of bribery, corruption, commission etc.
‘Hollow technology’ or hollow fiber membranes are fine filters that act as selective membranes to remove particles based on their size. Membrane surfaces have fine pores that determine which particles will pass based on molecular weight cut-off values.
