As a part of celebrating the celebrating the great Independence Day, ARKHAN Chess Club organized “Independence Day Friendly Chess Competition” on 26 March for the under 12-year-olds. The competition was organized at the Green City Center of Dhanmondi in the capital. This Friendly Chess Competition was held in Swiss League style with the participation of registered students.
In this competition, Pairing and results showcasing were done with Swiss Manager software. A total of 4 rounds of games were held in the entire competition. Ridwan Rabbani of Ideal School and College became the champion, Ryan Rashid Mugdho of Rajarbagh Police Lines School and College was the first runner-up, Rifah Saira Mubina became the second runner-up. Books on chess were presented as prizes to the winners and certificates were given to all the participants.
Bangladesh Open Source Network General Secretary Munir Hasan was present to encourage the students in the friendly chess competition.
Thanking everyone who participated in the first event of this club founded in the name of Chess loving organizer Dr. AR Khan, he said, “Chess is a game of the mind. It is basically a brain exercise. Playing chess regularly keeps the brain active. This game is therefore unique in the expansion of intelligence. There is no match for this game to sharpen your memory. By playing chess from an early age, children will go through an ‘intellectual development’ that helps them a lot in their future thinking.”
Academic Councilor of Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad Committee and Faculty of BRAC University Department of MNS Sakal Roy and Women’s Candidate Master Kazi Zareen Tasnim were present on the occasion and encouraged the students and awarded the winners.
Arbiter Riyasat-e-Noor coordinated the overall coordination of this friendly chess tournament organized on Independence Day. He said that in the coming days AR Khan Chess Club will organize regular chess competitions as well as training. The friendly chess tournament was held in collaboration with Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) and Maksudul Alam Science Laboratory (MASLAB).
