BTRC’s initiative in collaboration with NTMC is conducting an operation to stop illegal Voice over Internet (VoIP) activities. State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak warned that if any mobile operators or their distributors are involved in this crime, then they will not be exempted.
The Minister of State issued this warning while inspecting huge equipment including 11,500 illegal SIMs used for VOIP seized in Tongi of Gazipur district on Sunday.
He said that the government is determined to stop illegal VoIP. If the operators are not restrained in selling SIMs through distributors, then they have to bear the responsibility.
Meanwhile, Chairman of BTRC Engineer Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed, Director General of NTMC Major General Ziaul Ahsan and RAB-1 captain Lt. Colonel Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmad were present.
RAB-1 in collaboration with NTMC yesterday raided Tongi on March 23 and seized a huge quantity of illegal VoIP equipment and arrested the accused. Seized equipment includes 11500 SIMs of different mobile operators, 3 computers, 2 laptops, 1 mini-PC, 7 modems, 15 routers and 5 network hubs.
