Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury informed that a digital mapping across the country is going on to protect the environment through waste management for preventing pollution. He said that through this mapping, it will be clearer where there are reservoirs, rivers and canals.
‘It will be possible to strengthen supervision then’, said the minister and added, we have various plans for waste management to prevent pollution. We don’t just want to talk about problems, we want to move towards solutions. Change will not happen overnight. But going forward with a definite plan will resolve the issues.
Saber Hossain Chowdhury responded to journalists while asked after an exchange meeting with officials of the Department of Environment and Forests at Feni Circuit House on Saturday, February 24.
The environment minister said that action will be taken against the illegal brick kilns. Initially, five hundred brick kilns will be closed. However, such brick kilns have been closed in the past by conducting various operations, but later they started operations again. Now measures will be taken so that they cannot be restarted.
Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that the government wants to go to block brick to protect the balance of the environment. There are various government packages for this. Brick kiln owners can avail these opportunities. One of the advantages of the block is that there will be no use of agricultural land. Apart from this it is possible to prevent air pollution in this process. So, the faster we can get to the block, the better it is for us.
Director of Forest Department (Land Survey) Anis Mahmood, Deputy Commissioner of Feni Musammat Shahina Akhtar, Additional Superintendent of Police Deen Mohammad and officials of related departments were present in the meeting.
Finally, Member of Parliament of Feni-2 Constituency and District Awami League General Secretary Nizam Uddin Hazari and Municipal Mayor Nazrul Islam Swapan Miyaji exchanged greetings with the Minister.
