UNICEF will put effort with the ICT Division to make 5 crore primary students smart. On Monday, the state minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak informed the matter to reporters after a courtesy meeting with Suzan Vaiz, the head of UNESCO Bangladesh appointed in Bangladesh
He said, fruitful discussions were held on how the ICT Division and UNESCO may work among the people on AI literacy, cyber security and formulating necessary laws and policies.
About the discussion, Dr. Suzan Vize said, the discussion is very effective. I am impressed by the Ministry’s interest in building Smart Bangladesh. We have found several good places to cooperate. AI is at the beginning of this. Discussions were made on AI education for the youth, digital signatures and awareness creation and training of journalists. UNICEF is ready to provide all kinds of support to Bangladesh to build a smart city, smart citizen and smart leader.
Palak said, besides working on creating education and digital literacy through Agency to Innovate (A2I project) to build a tolerant and progressive generation; students, teachers and businessmen will be made more aware about artificial intelligence. Journalists, literary and administrative top persons will be made aware of AI communication. School and university students will be trained to master AI.
He also said that A2I Human Development Media Wing will train 18-25-year-old students in journalism with UNESCO. Also, teachers will be made aware of AI and the students of Sheikh Russell Digital Lab will be offered training in accordance with their ages.
State Minister Palak said that the AI policy will be formulated very soon. Then the law will be made. In this regard, UNESCO is preparing a roadmap for cooperation with Bangladesh. Four AI Literacy Sessions will be conducted carefully by Smart Leadership Academy under Bangladesh Computer Council’s EDGE Project.
