A grant of Tk 2 crore has been given to teachers of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) to showcase innovative research projects and increase collaboration with industry.
The endowment was given in a function organized in the seminar room of ECE building of BUET on Saturday, February 17.
The program titled ‘Internal Research Grants and Research Exhibition’ was organized by BUET’s Research and Innovation Center for Science and Engineering (RISE).
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mr. Satya Prasad Majumdar preside over the event while the Chief Coordinator of SDG matters of the Prime Minister’s Office Md. Akhtar Hossain; Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority GSM Zafarullah; Member of Bangladesh University Grant Commission Professor Dr. Hasina Khan; Managing Director of DBL Group Mr. M. A. Jabbar Director of RISE Prof. Dr. Muhammad Anisuzzaman Talukdar were present.
For receiving highest endowment, the Mechanical Engineering Department and Civil Engineering Department, Mechanical Engineering Department Professor Dr. Md. Ehsan, Director of RISE Professor Dr. Muhammad Anisuzzaman Talukdar were awarded greeted with crests.
In addition, the Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM) and Chemical Engineering Department, IWFM Professor Dr. A.K.M. Saiful Islam and Professor Dr. Mushfiqus Salehin were awarded the crest.
It may be noted that, BUET invites research proposals from faculty in 2023 through RISE. It contained 29 research proposals. From there, 12 projects that are timely and helpful in dealing with the fourth industrial revolution were selected and financed. At least one undergraduate or postgraduate student will work as a research assistant in these 12 projects.
Deans of all departments of BUET, directors of various departments, heads of all departments, senior officials of various industrial institutions, students and dignitaries were present in the ceremony.
