Bangladesh will walk with Sweden in creating ‘cashless society’ and getting technology transferred from startup hubs like Stockholm, increase investment and export earnings and thus create employment. Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexandra Berg von Linde held a meeting with the State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Wednesday at Bangladesh Secretariat. BTRC Chairman Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed, Startup Bangladesh Managing Director Sami Ahmed and High-Tech Park Authority Managing Director GSM Zafarullah were present in the meeting.
This is what they told reporters after the meeting was over. Alexandra Berg von Linde said, several Swedish companies are at the forefront of innovation and sustainability in IT and telecoms. Among them, Ericsson will also accompany the implementation of the Smart Bangladesh vision in the continuation of regular cooperation. I think today’s meeting was very constructive and fruitful to further mutual cooperation.
Regarding the meeting, the State Minister for Telecom and ICT Zunaid Ahmed said that Bangladesh and Sweden will work together to implement the vision of Smart Bangladesh. This friendship will continue in the future for the benefit of both countries.
Palak said that along the path of the past 30 years of partnership, in the next 17 years, Sweden will cooperate in establishing research and development centers in 20 universities in the country to increase the export of ICT products and services, as well as the development of Bangladesh’s telecom infrastructure. Bangladesh-Sweden IT portal will also be launched soon for mutual cooperation in 5G technology knowledge sharing and startup sector. Companies like Ericsson, Spotify, Bluetooth, Volvo will participate in the startup summit to be held in July.
