In the last 14 years, we have successfully implemented Digital Bangladesh program under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Now, on the way to building a Smart Bangladesh by 2041, we want to make every post office a smart post office and BTCL and Teletalk a profitable company. That is why besides increasing the services of the government, work will be done on the basis of partnership with private institutions.
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed his determination while exchanging views with post office officials and local media workers after visiting the main post office in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday.
The state minister also said that, besides increasing the service quality of BTCL and Teletalk, efforts will continue to make the current resources and infrastructure profitable through low investment. We will start work by setting up smart service points under the pilot project at Cox’s Bazar main post office. 500 post offices across Bangladesh will be converted into smart service points. Each exchange of BTCL and customer care of Teletalk will be geared up to provide service and citizen friendly easy smart services. Through these, employment will be created, on the other hand, paperless smart government services can be delivered to the doorsteps of the people. With Smart Posts, our entrepreneurs can easily send their e-commerce products abroad. I believe we can start the process of making these three institutions smart in a very short time.
In addition, initiatives have been taken to work in partnership with other mobile network operators through active ‘network sharing’ to make Teletalk’s network more suitable for providing more services, the state minister said.
