Tiktok and Jaago Foundation have already successfully organized workshops called “Online Safety Adda” in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Mymensingh, Sherpur, Netrakona, Jamalpur, Bagerhat and Narail districts to raise awareness about online safety among the youth of the country.
Participants in these workshops acquire knowledge about various security skills and behavioral etiquettes in the online domain, especially in the use of social media platforms. A significant part of the workshop was to introduce participants to TikTok’s safety tools, which are designed to enhance the safety of the platform’s users. Participants also gained knowledge about various tips and tricks for creating online content.
The workshop participants said, “The online safety chat helped us a lot. We have learned many practical tips to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe online. The session was very encouraging. This initiative by Jaago Foundation and TikTok is crucial for security, privacy and responsible online behavior in today’s digital age.”
A sectoral meetup called Online Safety Summit-Sylhet was conducted in Sylhet, the main attraction of which was an important panel discussion among representatives from various sectors of the society. Prominent people including Sylhet Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Rabeya Akhter Ria, Sylhet Press Club President Iqbal Siddiqui and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Social Work Department Head Professor Mohammad Mizanur Rahman. In the event, they discussed the importance of using the Internet and also highlighted the importance of caution in using the Internet. Panel speakers followed with a question-and-answer session to answered a variety of questions and provided practical advice to attendees. The presence of popular social media influencer Saqib Bin Rashid enriched the discussion.
As part of the campaign, a SBCC (Social and Behavior Change Communication) video content was released from Jaago Foundation’s social media pages. This content emphasizes the importance of practicing safe and responsible behavior in the online environment and aims to raise awareness among the public about the ongoing campaign.
As part of creating public awareness, the campaign was promoted through popular social media influencers. Influencers, through their TikTok accounts, are creating and sharing content to highlight the importance of using social media safely and responsibly.
By advancing the campaign, TikTok and Jaago Foundation are expressing their commitment to building a safe digital environment and empowering youth for responsible online practices. The campaign will continue till April 2024, as part of which “Online Safety Adda” workshops will be extended to all districts of Khulna and two more divisional meet-ups will be organized in Mymensingh and Khulna divisions. The nationwide ‘Sabdhane Online-A’ (while online, be careful) campaign has achieved significant success and progress in online safety. Through this our youth can keep themselves safe in the online world.
