The court has issued an arrest warrant against the Managing Director (MD) of Evaly, an e-commerce company released on bail, Mohammad Russell and his wife and chairman of the company, Shamima Nasreen, in a check fraud case.
On Monday, January 15, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Md. Ali Haider issued this order. Earlier, summons were issued to them to appear in court in this case. As the accused did not appear on that day, the court issued an arrest warrant against them.
According to the complaint source, on March 13, 2021, Tanveer Hossain, the plaintiff in the case, saw an advertisement and paid Tk 245,000 through mobile banking for the purchase of a motorcycle. However, the defendants failed to deliver the goods within a specified period of 45 days.
Then on September 13 Evaly issued a check for the equivalent of the goods. The check was then dishonored in more than one bank for encashment. The last legal notice was sent to them on October 22 last year. After not taking any action, the plaintiff sued Shamima Nasreen and Md. Russell.
