RedX, one of the leading delivery services of the country; and Shop-Up, the parent company of Mokam, an e-commerce site for traders, have achieved the milestone of selling products worth Tk. 4,000 crore this year. This sale is double than that of last year. And in 2026 they target to reach eight crore people of the country.
Shop-up founder and chief executive officer (CEO) Afif Jubair Zaman informed the matter at a press conference held at the Daily Star Center on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue in the capital on Tuesday. Major General (retd) Hamid R Chowdhury, chief strategic advisor of Shop-up, was present in the conference.
Mohammad Rakibuddaula Chowdhury, brand and communication director of the shop-up, said that, although there are big brands in Bangladesh, about 98 percent of the country’s purchases are completed through local grocery stores. As a result, if a new product is produced, it becomes impossible to deliver it all over the country. Shop-up is working to solve this problem.
Afif Jubair Zaman, founder of Shop-Up, said, ‘Most of the small traders suffer because of middlemen. Small producers and farmers are not able to produce good quality products. Through shop-up we connect farmers and producers with small traders.’
In the meeting, opinions were exchanged about Shopup’s 2023 journey, experience and future goals and plans. In the meeting, Afif Zubair said, ‘Moqam and redex are divided into two parts. This is our main infrastructure. We are reaching so many people through these hubs. We are supplying 90 thousand tons of products per month. 3 crore 2 million people are buying our products. There are 427 hubs across the country.”
About the future plans of the shop-up, Afif Jubair Zaman said, 7 thousand workers are working in their hubs, who have been providing various services to about 3 crore people of the country. The shop-up aims to cover half the country’s population by 2026.
Besides, the shop-up is working with a new company, named ‘Ankur’. Through this, the small businessmen of the country will be assisted in getting bank loans. Ankur’s journey will begin in January 2024.
