More than 300,000 students have been selected in the first phase through a digital lottery for admission to public and private secondary schools in classes I to IX. On Tuesday (November 28) at 11:30 a.m., the Minister of Education Deepu Moni inaugurated the lottery program by pressing the button. After that, the lottery started by random selection. Results preparation is complete through the software. The result was announced around 2 pm.
According to sources, the results are also available online. Students and guardians can check the results of the digital lottery on http://gsa.teletalk.com.bd. Students can get their results online or through SMS. To get the results by SMS, students have to type GSA<Space>Result>Space>User ID and send it to 16222.
Meanwhile, in the speech of the chief guest at the lottery ceremony, Education Minister Dipu Moni said that it is possible to maintain 100% impartiality as the digital selection system is completely software-based in the student selection process. We introduced lottery long back for admission in first class. Keeping in mind the health risk of students amid the coronavirus pandemic, admissions are being taken through lottery in all classes from first to ninth under the central management. It is possible to prevent the vicious competition between students and parents. At the same time, inequality is also decreasing.
State Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury and Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Soleman Khan were, among others, present as special guests at the lottery inauguration and result announcement ceremony at the International Mother Language Institute in Segunbagicha of the capital. Maushi Director General (DG) Professor Nehal Ahmed presided over it. It is mentionable that, the online application process for admissions to the schools started on Oct 24 and continued till Nov 18.
Online applications for admission to 658 government and 3 thousand 188 private secondary schools under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSHI) of the country started from last October 24. Applications are open until November 18. There are 10 lakh 60 thousand 9 vacant seats in the country’s 3 thousand 846 educational institutions from first to ninth class. A total of 8 lakh 73 thousand 792 applications have been filed against these vacant seats. Digital lottery has been done in class-wise distribution program from application. This program of student selection lottery is broadcast live on the Facebook page of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education.
