Bangladesh bags a total of six awards, including the Gold medal, in this year’s international Blockchain Olympiad held in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. Team Apocalypse from Bangladesh emerged as the champion, earning the prestigious Gold Medal for their project with the 1st Highest Overall Score. As a champion the team will receive €2400 prize money along with a certificate for the achievement. Team Apocalypse members: Ms. Sadia Ahmmed, Mr. SM Jishanul Islam, Mr. Sahid hossain mustakim and Ms. Aadiba Tasneem Anam, are students of United International University (UIU).

The International Blockchain Olympiad (IBCOL), an annual competition at the forefront of fostering innovation in Web3 and blockchain technology, has marked its 6th year with an exceptional showcase of talent in its 2023 finals held in Amsterdam. Founded in 2017, IBCOL continues to provide students from around the world with a platform to address real-world challenges using cutting-edge blockchain solutions.
With participants from 20 countries including Bangladesh, Canada, China, Europe, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherlands, Philippines, Russia, Taiwan, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Vietnam, IBCOL 2023 brought together a diverse array of perspectives and expertise. Around 45 teams participated from all over the world.
Silver Medal went to Team CircularX from Honk Kong while Bronze Medal went to Team Mustnum from Mongolia.
In addition to the championship award, five other Bangladeshi teams: Team Unchained, Team GreyDevs, Team Beecrypt, Team Cuet Unanimous, and Team Block-Bit, received Awards of Merit for their noteworthy contributions to the competition further highlighting the strength of the Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh community.
Among the Merit winners from Bangladesh are Team Block Bit members Md. Omar Ali Sultan, Kazi Md. Arif Shahriar, Md. Hasibul Islam Shanto and Md. Mehedi Hasan Ifti from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology; Tanzeem Ahmeed Reza, Ms. Tazreen Tabassum, Sabik Aftahee, Md. Tanvirul Islam and Md. Sakaid Sakir from CUET Unanimous; Shahriar Rahman Nahid, SM Saimul Islam, Ghagra Salem Debnath and KM Mynurdoza from Sylhet Cadet College team Gray Devs and United International University team Team Unchained members HM Shoaib Hasan, Ms. Anika Khaer, Md. Siam Hossain Sarkar & Farhi Aalina Ahmad.
All these teams were the winners of Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh 2023 held in August and were nominated by the Organizing Committee of the Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh to the International Blockchain Olympiad this year held in Amsterdam, Holland. Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh is held every year since 2020 and every year the top winners nominated by the Organizing Committee of the Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh to the International Blockchain Olympiad.
In the previous two years Bangladesh won the Silver Award and other awards at the International Blockchain Olympiad. This is the first time that Bangladesh has won the Championship Award at the International Blockchain Olympiad bringing the highest laurels to the nation.
