Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud requested the media, to convey the cries of the victims to those who are responsible for their situations.
While interacting with reporters after visiting the medical care of the injured in the petrol bomb attack called by ‘BNP-Jamaat’ who were undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute at Kamruzzaman Sarani in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, health affairs secretary Dr. Rokeya Sultana, chief coordinator of the institute Dr. Samanta Lal Sen and doctors were present at this time.
Awami League joint general secretary Dr. Hasan said, ‘Prime Minister, President of Bangladesh Awami League has sent us to inquire about the victims of BNP-Jamaat arson in this hospital. All the treatment and expenses of the burn victims are being borne by the government under the direction of Samanta Lal Sen, the Director of the institute, who has been instrumental in setting up the unit. We will also help them on behalf of the party.’
The Broadcasting Minister said, ‘It is indescribable how helpless toiling people are suffering in burn units today due to brutality, brutality and arson of BNP-Jamaat. In 2013, 14, 15, the way they conducted attacks on people, they again started throwing petrol bombs on people and vehicles.’
Hasan Mahmud lamented that the words ‘cruelty’ and ‘violence’ in the dictionary are not enough to describe the way helpless people were burnt.
He said, ‘Those who are under treatment at the burn institute are car drivers, helpers, rickshaw pullers or workers. All are common people. What is their fault! My question to BNP-Jamaat, what is the fault of these people? Why did they fall victim to their non-politicism, violence? They have no answer for this.’
‘For their own political demands, for the release of their chairperson who is convicted of corruption, for the release of their acting chairpersons, the demands of their so-called caretaker government – throwing bombs on people, burning them on fire – no one can imagine this brutality’, said the Information Minister. ‘Nowhere in the world have people been burnt to death for political demands in the last few decades’, he added.
Minister Hasan said, ‘They of BNP-Jamaat have become more violent than Pakistani forces. Pakistani forces shot and killed people but did not burn them alive. A helper died inside the bus after a petrol bomb was hurled at a bus in Demra at midnight. Another is somehow alive here, still unharmed.
