Freshers welcome and farewell reception of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEBT) Department of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) was held in various events including flower reception, presenting souvenirs to outgoing students, discussion meeting, and a cultural program.
On Monday afternoon in the gallery of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Academic Building of the University, the initiative of the GEBT department organized the reception of the new students and the farewell of the outgoing students. VC JUST Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain was present as the chief guest. .
Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said to the students that, we are now going to enter the middle income country and the developed world. At this time we need energetic, skilled and enlightened students. The more enlightened you are, the more enlightened this country will be. If you don’t look up in education, you will go backwards. You have to research according to market demand. If your goal is strong, then you can be successful, you can become an enlightened person. I believe, you got admission in this department by getting maximum marks in the admission tests. You have come to this university enlightened, you will remain enlightened.
Chairman of the GEBT department Professor Dr. Md. Nazmul Hasan presided over the event while the university’s treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Anishur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Technology, Prof. Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid, Professor of GEBT Department. Sheikh Mizanur Rahman, Professor Dr. Md. Ziaul Amin, outgoing batch student Soumitra Das, first year student Hanif Ahmed, Maria Ahmed Mim spoke among others. GEBT department associate professor Dr. Md. Shahedur Rahman, Dr. Md. Abdur Rauf Sarkar, Dr. Md. Moshiur Rahman, lecturer Tasmia Islam, Dr. Saifullah, Umama Khan, Students of different years of the department including Md. Al Saber were present. The program was conducted by Florence Barnali Ratna and Habiba Binte Latif, students of GEBT department. In the evening a wonderful cultural program was organized with the participation of the students of the department.
