The 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the national trade body for the information and communication technology sector of Bangladesh, has been held. The meeting highlighted the continued efforts of BASIS in building Smart Bangladesh. BASIS President Russell T Ahmed presided over this Annual General Meeting held on March 28 (Tuesday), 2023 at RAWA Convention Center in the capital.
Among the members of the BASIS Executive Council, the BASIS President Russell T Ahmed, Vice-President (Administration) Abu Dawood Khan, Vice-President (Finance) Fahim Ahmed, Directors- Habibullah Neyamul Karim, AKM Ahmadul Islam Babu, Mushfiqur Rahman, Syed Mohammad Kamal, Mostafizur Rahman Sohail and Rashad Kabir were present in the meeting.
The annual report of BASIS for the year 2022 and the audited financial report for the financial year 2021-2022 were presented and auditors were appointed to audit the income and expenditure accounts for the financial year 2022-23. A significant number of members were present in the meeting and participated in the discussion and gave important opinions on these reports presented.
At the Annual General Meeting, BASIS Vice-President (Administration) Abu Dawood Khan discussed the future development of human resources, development of local industries, expansion of foreign markets, increase in capital and financial incentives, creation of a rich ecosystem for startups, development and expansion of IT sector and capacity of BASIS Secretariat. He presented the report of activities implemented by BASIS in the last one year along with steps taken for growth.
On the occasion, the members called upon the BASIS leaders to play an effective role in the development of information and communication technology sector, especially in creating a business-friendly environment for the BASIS members.
“We have organized the 17th BASIS SoftExpo, the largest IT sector exhibition in South Asia. Through which we have shown proof of Bangladesh’s capability in the information technology sector. Currently we are on the way to build Smart Bangladesh. We have a long way to go. BASIS is playing a significant role in this along with its member institutions. We would like to take all of you with us to make an effective contribution to the development of the country’s information technology and communication industry”, said the BASIS President Russell T Ahmed.
The BASIS President sought the voluntary cooperation of the members in implementing the future plans of the BASIS.
It should be noted that a significant number of representatives of BASIS member organizations participated in this year’s annual general meeting.
