It has been decided to sell advance train tickets for upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr only online, said Railway Minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujan. He announced this decision in a press conference organized at the Railway Building on Wednesday (March 22).
He also said that advance train ticket service will start from April 17 on the probable day of Eid, April 22. Tickets can be purchased 10 days in advance from April 7. 28 thousand 778 tickets will be sold online every day.
The railway minister said, ‘Every year, an uncomfortable situation is created with advance tickets for Eid journey. Many people wait for two or three days but do not get tickets. Then the image of the railway is ruined. All our achievements are destroyed when Eid comes. So this time it has been decided to sell all tickets online in advance.
Regarding passenger transport, the minister said that 25 percent of the passengers of Shovon seats will be able to travel standing. Their tickets should be bought from the counter. Apart from this, 2 percent of advance tickets will be reserved for railways, armed forces and government officials.
