Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology’s ‘BUET Pirates’ team has won The 6th National Girls’ Programming Competition (NGPC-2022). The first and second runners-up respectively are ‘CUET Melanostictus’ of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology and ‘Smell LikeTeam Spirit’ of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology- SUST.
The competition was held at Daffodil International University near Dhaka on Saturday, February 25. 105 teams from various public and private universities participated in this competition. Girls’ Computer Programming Club of Daffodil International University organized this competition in collaboration with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department of Government and Bangladesh Computer Council. Daffodil International University conveyed this information in a press release today.
While speaking as the Chief Guest at the prize distribution ceremony at the Daffodil International University, the Vice-Chancellor M Lutfar Rahman said, good results in the examination are not the real thing. A student’s main goal should be acquiring the skills that are needed in the career. This competition is not the last competition. Daffodil University will organize this competition on regular basis.
The chief judge of the competition was Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department of BRAC University Dr. Kaykobad. He said, ‘Bangladesh needs to turn around now to build a digital Bangladesh. We have not progressed the way our neighboring country India has progressed in the technology sector. For this, more support is needed at the government and private levels. We have many talented children. The youth of our country are doing well in the ICT sector of developed countries of the world. So it is easy for us to create a nation- skilled in programming.’
Daffodil International University’s Computer Science and Engineering Department Professor Towhid Bhuiyan was also present in the event. University Vice-Chancellor SM Mahabub-ul-Haq Majumdar, Justice Program Director Rafid Bin Mostafa, Intel’s Technical Leader Enamul Amin and others were also present in the event.
