Today, on Monday (January 30, 2023), the officials and employees of LGED across the country formed a human chain to demand speedy trial and punishment of the culprits of the attack on Ghulam Yazdani, Executive Engineer (Ex.En.) of LGED and Project Director of Chittagong City Corporation. An ultimatum of one week has been given in this connection.
Engineers of LGED in the human chain said that on yesterday afternoon, the project director and executive engineer of LGED Md. Ghulam Yazdani, who had been working on the fourth floor of the temporary office building of Chittagong City Corporation in Tiger Pass of the city was suddenly attacked and physically bribed by about 20-25 contractors in his room while performing official duties.
The engineers raised some demands in the human chain and said that it was completely illegal to assault the executive engineer. All those found guilty of physically abusing Ghulam Yazdani should be swiftly brought to justice and the contractors involved should be blacklisted for life with license cancellation.
At the same time, justice should be ensured for the attack on LGED engineers in the past days across the country.
In addition, LGED’s field level engineers demand full-time gunman for security assurance, Executive Engineers magisterial powers are sought from the human chain.
All the leaders of the national professional organization Engineers Institution, Bangladesh (IEB) have expressed their solidarity in this human chain of engineers of LGED all over the country and AGS Sheikh Tajul Islam Tuhin, AGS of LGED engineer leader IEB, expressed his thanks and gratitude to everyone who participated in the human chain.
