On the last day of Gregorian calendar 2022, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology and local Member of Parliament Zunaid Ahmed Palak distributed blankets among 1,000 people on a personal initiative to build a developed, modern and humane society. Along with him, his three children: Apurba Zunaid, Arjan Zunaid and Anirban Zunaid joined as volunteers in this work.
After the distribution of blankets, on the first day of the New Year, the State Minister for Information and Communication Technology started public service activities in the New Year by distributing sewing machines among 100 trained smart women entrepreneurs of Singra Upazila.
Upazila Awami League president Sheikh Ohidur Rahman presided over the program on Sunday morning, while the Joint General Secretary Maulana Ruhul Amin conducted the program.
The state minister said that to create 25,000 women entrepreneurs, the ICT department will first provide them with a 2-month internship after 3 months of training. After that they will be given Tk. 20,000 as un-refundable capital so that they can join e-commerce entrepreneurs, IT freelancers or call center agents or mobile-fridge repairers.
‘But all this will take shape in reality when the boat symbol can be won’ – added Palak. He also said that we want to build a smart Bangladesh by educating the talented generation in technology-based education on the successful path of Digital Bangladesh. Meanwhile, People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina has expressed her confidence to build a Smart Bangladesh and provided necessary directions. Smart Bangladesh will be developed through the equal involvement of women in the country’s development activities. Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government has taken necessary steps to create smart women entrepreneurs.
After the distribution of sewing machines, the ICT State Minister distributed sheep under the Integrated Livestock Development Project aimed at improving the socio-economic and quality of life of the backward minority groups living in the plains. On the occasion, 400 sheep and accessories were given to 200 families by the Department of Animal Resources.
Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer MM Samirul Islam presided over the program and among others, Rajshahi Divisional Animal Resources Director Dr. Md: Nazrul Islam Jhantu, District Animal Resources Officer Dr. Mo. Golam Mostafa, Upazila Awami League president Sheikh Ohidur Rahman and the mayor of the municipality Jannatul Ferdous were present.
While speaking as the chief guest, zunaid Ahmed Palak said that not only educated people are getting the benefits of digital Bangladesh or not only the city-people are getting it. A village farmer even got it. Under the guidance of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, architect of Digital Bangladesh, we created a digital haat from the Ministry of ICT. In the first year, 27 thousand sacrificial animals were bought and sold. In the second year, 800 huts across Bangladesh were digitally connected and thousands of farmers were registered. As a result, 3 lakh 87 thousand sacrificial animals were bought and sold from this market, creating a new record in the world. 2700 crore taka wre transacted online. Of these, Natore won the first place in the digital market.
He also said that in the financial year 2008-09, milk production in the country was 2.2 million metric tons, now it is 13 million metric tons. Egg production was 45.9 million; Now it is 233.5 crores. Meat production used to be 1 million metric tons, now it is 9.3 million metric tons.
Meanwhile, he promised to teach freelancing and gift laptops to SSC, HSC students of Singra at the January education festival. He said that through the use of technology, the Awami League government has brought an end to bad governance by ensuring corruption-free administration by creating transparency and accountability in all areas.
