An agreement was signed between Bangladesh Data Center Company Limited (BDCCL) and Gennext Technology Limited under the Information and Communication Technology Department on Thursday to set up Bangladesh’s first cloud data center named “Meghna Cloud” through its own technology and manpower.
BDCCL Managing Director Abu Saeed Chowdhury on behalf of Bangladesh Data Center Company Limited and Touhidul Islam Chowdhury, Chairman of Gennext Technology Limited, signed the agreement in a ceremony presided over by NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Division and Chairman of BDCCL. .
Officials of BDCCL and Gennext Technology Limited were present on the occasion. According to the agreement, this ‘Meghna Cloud’ established by the joint venture will be the ‘Made in Bangladesh Cloud’ through which it will be possible to provide services to any organization including government and private while keeping the country’s data inside the country. As a result, the government will save foreign exchange in purchasing and using cloud technology. Besides, a Research and Development (R&D) Center will be set up for ‘Meghna Cloud’ with the combination of teachers and students of government and private universities along with the data center industry.
