The Department of Posts and Telecommunications has published a commemorative book entitled ‘Bangabandhu on his birth centenary’. The 480-page researched and informative book edited by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mustafa Jabbar and sponsored by Secretary Md. Khalilur Rahman has highlighted the involvement of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications with many important events in the history of national life. The Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Department Md. Khalilur Rahman presided over the program while and the Additional Secretary Md. Mahbub Ul Alam moderated. While speaking as the chief guest, the Minister of Telecommunications mentioned the book as a historical document. The event took place at the conference hall of the Bangladesh Secretariat of Posts and Telecommunications Department in Dhaka on this occasion. The minister said that the book entitled ‘Bangabandhu’s Birth Centenary’ was a journey to participate in the third industrial revolution.”
He said, the important information about the transfer of Bangabandhu’s historical declaration of independence from Moghbazar T&T office to Salimpur has come up in the book. Bangabandhu’s inclusion of Bangladesh in the international telecommunication sphere through the establishment of Geo-satellite center at Betbunia by the father of the nation was the beginning of our efforts to participate in the third industrial revolution. The steps of Bengali progress have been brought out in the book through data. The Minister mentioned that the importance of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications in the national life will remain a part of history.
Notably, the historical involvement of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications with the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Department of Posts and Telecommunications in policy-making and important documents, the Department of Posts and Telecommunications in the documents of the great liberation war, the Department of Posts and Telecommunications and the offices under it, the 50-year success of the organization, fulfilling the dreams of Bangabandhu Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s policy statements to accelerate the progress of Posts and Telecommunications Department, selected essays and activities and future plans of Posts and Telecommunications Department to fulfill Bangabandhu’s dreams are presented in 7 chapters. 14 important informative documents are appended in the appendices.
Haridas Tagore, Deputy Secretary, Department of Posts and Telecommunications, has done the research, data collection and data arrangement of the book. Joint Secretary Sebastian Rema performed the duties of publication coordinator along with revising the manuscript of the book.
Later, the Minister unveiled five other Postal Acts, Telecom Acts, SDGs and the Annual Report of the Posts and Telecommunications Department published by the Department of Posts and Telecommunications in 2022.
