Instant audio-video calling and messaging app IMO has recently introduced a new feature ‘Block Screenshot for Calls’ to protect user privacy as well as ensure cyber security.
Due to the alarming increase of internet intruders, maintaining a safe online space and cyber security has become a topic of discussion. Nowadays various people are victims due to cybercrimes such as cyberstalking, cyberbullying, blackmail or online threats.
Many times cybercriminals record the victim’s calls or take pictures without permission, so that they can later use it to gain illicit benefits. To protect against such unwanted crimes and to ensure the protection of users’ privacy, imo has introduced the ‘Block Screenshot for Calls’ feature.
‘Block Screenshot for Calls’ is a powerful privacy security feature, which will ensure the safety of users from screenshots and screen recording in case of video and audio calls. With the launch of this feature, cybercriminals will no longer be able to take screenshots and screen/audio recordings of imo’s video and audio calls, which will successfully help ensure the security of users. Once the feature is enabled on the Android device, recording the video call from the other end will automatically make the interface of that recorded video call black, and screenshots during the video call will also be prohibited. Besides, user will get alert notification immediately if someone wants to record voice message in case of video or audio call. To enable this feature, one has to go to settings first, then activate Block screenshot for calls from privacy and then apply it to all contacts.
Users can also enable this feature for specific contacts; In that case they have to go to the chat page of that particular contact. Then find the Block screenshot for calls feature and apply it to that specific contact. In order to activate this feature, both the imo users need to use the latest version of the imo app.
This feature will help users to be aware of privacy security. Besides, it will bring relief to the users by ensuring privacy security while using the app by reducing the chances of various cybercrimes including cyberbullying. This feature will be useful for women and vulnerable people who are often victims of various cybercrimes.
IMO has already rolled out the feature globally for Android compatible with version 2022.09.1031 or higher. iOS users will also soon get the opportunity to use this feature on their phones.
