Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said that besides increasing the number of subscribers, it is essential to ensure the quality of service for mobile subscribers. We have acquired the capability to monitor the quality of mobile services. As a result, we can consider the customer service standards of mobile operators. He urged the mobile operators to increase the necessary infrastructure to ensure the quality of service for the customers along with increasing the number of customers, saying that if there is no customer satisfaction, business failure is inevitable at the end of the day.
The minister opined so while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) state-of-the-art benchmarking system to monitor the quality of service of mobile operators at the conference room of BTRC in Dhaka on Sunday. Posts and Telecommunication Secretary Md. Khalilur Rahman spoke as a special guest on the occasion. Chairman of BTRC Shyam Sundar Sikder presided over the occasion.
The telecommunication minister said that the operators cannot meet the demand of the customers in many cases. The reason for that is – 2018 spectrum and 2022 spectrum are yet to roll out. Due to which the customer service has to be questioned. We put operators under pressure. They promised to roll it out soon.
This pioneer of digital technology development pointed out that the rate of mobile internet package is not acceptable and said, I have fixed the rate of broadband internet, ‘One country, one rate’ Initiative has awarded Bangladesh with the Association Award. We are working on mobile data rates.
He said to the operators, when you sell the package there must be an acceptance. The current system is not acceptable. Mobile data should have a fixed rate. Current data rates are not acceptable to us. He said, we have to achieve customer satisfaction. He praised the role of mobile operators for reaching 98 percent of the country’s 4G network and said, “We have entered the 5G era. Five-G is a milestone for us. He emphasized the need to increase tower-to-tower optical fiber connectivity to ensure better services.
Later, the minister was handed over the association award. The minister termed this award as a unique achievement for Bangladesh.
Earlier, the Minister highlighted the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Benchmarking System for quality of service monitoring.
