Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar urged the entrepreneurs to expand IoT technology in agriculture and fisheries.
A delegation of six members led by Mahbub Zaman, Managing Director of Smart Cloud Service Limited, met the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications at his office in the Secretariat on Thursday.
During the meeting, both of them discussed various issues including tower sharing for cloud data centers, 5G connectivity, the need to keep the data of the country in the middle of the country and the need of cloud services for cloud computing.
In the discussion, reminding ‘data security is essential to face the challenges of the digital age’, Mustafa Jabbar said, ‘It is essential to preserve the country’s data within the country. Therefore, the government is working on taking all possible steps to ensure data security.
At the same time, highlighting the issue of data protection and security of the country, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications also said that data is the greatest resource of the future world. There is no alternative to the conservation and safety of these resources. The Minister noted that investment by the government as well as private entrepreneurs is very timely by exploiting the opportunity of 5G technology for cloud data centers.
Mentioning the revolutionary changes coming in the field of IoT through data cloud, he said, cloud data services will initiate radical changes in mobile phone data, photo or video e-mail, digital commerce, web hosting etc. He assured Smart Service Limited to provide all possible cooperation including 5G connection and tower sharing in establishing cloud data center.
The minister called upon the stakeholders to come forward to invest in the expansion of IoT technology in the country’s agriculture and fisheries along with the establishment of smart cloud services.
The delegation informed the minister about their plans for cloud data centers as tower locations in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Jashore and Chittagong.
The other members of the delegation are former Navy Chief Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, Rear Admiral Zulfikar Aziz, Tarek Rafi Bhuiya and Md Mainul Islam Majumdar.
