Awami League’s science and technology sub-committee is going to organize an international conference for the first time on the fourth industrial revolution-4IR. The two-day conference will be held on November 4 and 5 at the capital’s Engineers Institution, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium. The theme of the conference is ‘Journey to Smart Bangladesh Building and Implementation of Delta Plan’.
In a press conference organized at the political office of the Awami League president in Dhanmondi on Wednesday (November 2), the science and technology secretary of the party, Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur presented his plan in detail.
In a written statement, he said, ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) has brought significant changes in people’s daily life. Bangladesh has become a role model in achieving sustainable economic and social growth by digitalization through successful utilization of 4IR. In this conference, professional scientists, engineers, academicians, researchers and students can exchange their views and ideas in the implementation of innovative programs of the government and potential technological innovations in the use of 4IR technology. Which will also guide the implementation of Smart Bangladesh 2041 and Centenary Delta Plan.
He said, ‘In this international conference, we called for research papers to be submitted on various topics related to the advanced technologies of the fourth industrial revolution. 662 papers and posters have already been submitted in 20 categories. Not only researchers from Bangladesh but also from Europe, America, Canada, India, Japan, China, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brazil, South Korea, Singapore have also submitted hundreds of papers. Among them, there are various technology institutes of Silicon Valley, Imperial College of London, Monash University in Australia, McMaster University and Calgary University in Canada, University of Texas Arlington in America, Boston University, University of Helsinki in Finland, Kyushu University in Japan, Seoul National University in South Korea, and Chinese Academy of Science. Apart from the, researchers from reputed institutions like IWM, CEGIS, River Research Institute, PDB, Water Development Board and universities i.e., BUET, Quet, CUET, RUET, DUET have submitted their research papers.
Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur said in a written statement, ‘Bangladesh Awami League is ready to face any challenge in the changing world. Already we are bringing almost all our political, social and humanitarian activities to the doorsteps of the people through digital channels. Not only that, by creating skills in information technology, the talented youth are being given the opportunity to create employment. In short, the country is well prepared for the fourth industrial revolution. It should be noted that we are the first in the country to start working on the fourth industrial revolution. Awami League’s science and technology affairs secretary, Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur, said that all the recommendations that will emerge from this international conference will be sent to the party’s office and research cell and to various government ministries.
Events of the 2-day international conference
General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader will announce the auspicious opening of the international conference on November 4 at 10 am. On the first day at 11:30 am, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak will present the first keynote of the conference at Engineers Institution, Bangladesh (IEB) Auditorium. At 12 noon, the second keynote will be presented by Professor Dr. Jayshree Roy Bangabandhu Chair of AIT, Thailand. Separate technical sessions will be held at IEB from 2.30 pm to 5 pm in total 9 venues.
On the second day of the conference, Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Satya Prasad Majumdar will present an article. A total of 9 different technical sessions will be held at IEB from 11:20 am to 1:20 pm. At 2:20 PM, the fourth and last main article will be presented by the first Bengali President of IEEE Dr. Saifur Rahman. A total of 9 different technical sessions will be held from 3 pm to 5 pm. National leaders of Bangladesh Awami League will also be present as guests in every event.
The closing ceremony of the international conference will be held on November 5 at 7 pm at the Auditorium of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). Bangladesh Awami League presidium member Matia Chowdhury, MP will be present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony; Posts and Telecommunication Division Minister Mustafa Jabbar will be present as a special guest.
Chairman of the sub-committee and member of the advisory council of Bangladesh Awami League, Professor Dr. Hussain Mansoor presided over the press conference. Members of the sub-committee were also present at that time.
