Japanese automobile company Toyota unveiled India’s first flex-fuel vehicle on an experimental basis. The name of the car is Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid.
The main objective of the vehicle introduced under the pilot project is to test the performance of the Strong Hybrid Flex Fuel Electric vehicle in the Indian environment. Due to the flex-fuel engine, the car can run on a mixture of petrol and ethanol or on either fuel.
It goes without saying that the widespread use of such vehicles will reduce the dependence on petrol and diesel. The car is powered by a 1.8 liter ethanol fueled petrol hybrid engine. The vehicle can run on 100% petrol and 20-100% ethanol and petrol mixture. It can even run on electricity.
Meanwhile, a Chinese company has tested an electric flying taxi named Xpeng X-2 in Dubai. Through this experiment, the institute has given a glimpse of the future-oriented technology, which will one day radically change the transportation system of urban life.
The Xpeng X-2, produced by China’s Guangzhou-based electric car maker Xpeng Motor, is one of dozens of flying car projects in the world. The vehicle has already successfully completed its test flight. In this test there were no passengers in the taxi. However, the agency said the manned flight was tested in July 2021.
The aesthetically designed vehicle is powered by a set of eight propellers, which can carry two passengers. According to the company, it can run at a maximum speed of 130 kilometers (80 miles) per hour.
This pilotless car will one day fly with passengers on the crowded streets of the city, making people’s lives easier and faster. But it has to overcome the key challenges like battery capacity, air traffic control and infrastructure development.
