The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has urged the Russian government to set up an offshore campus of the Russian University of Technology for the development of skills and talents of young entrepreneurs and talented students in the IT sector of Bangladesh.
Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Vikentyevich Mantytskiy went for a courtesy call to the State Minister’s office at ICT Tower in Agargaon on Sunday.
In the meeting, they discussed various issues related to the mutual interests of the two countries. Such as, introduction of Inter-Operable Digital Transaction (IDTP) system to facilitate digital transactions between Russia and Bangladesh, business and investment and knowledge sharing by Russian technology companies in robotics, blockchain, machine learning, AI, AR, VR etc. Allotment of land in hi-tech park for Russian companies, sustainable startup exchange program for entrepreneurship development in joint venture of both countries, organization of Bangladesh-Russia Investment Summit, participation of Russian IT companies in Digital World Summit in December, establishment of Agency for Knowledge on Aeronautical and Space Horizon (AKASH) And the potential of Bangladesh’s startup sector and cooperation in cyber security capacity building were also discussed.
In the meeting, Russian Ambassador AlexanderVikentyevich Mantytskiy expressed optimism that relations with Bangladesh in various fields, including ICT, will be strengthened in the near future by assuring overall cooperation on the issues under discussion.
The ambassador praised the development of various sectors of Bangladesh in the past 13 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The ambassador said that in a short period of time, various sectors including the ICT sector of Bangladesh have seen great development. In the coming days, Bangladesh will advance in various sectors including information technology. The ambassador said that the cordial and strong relations between the two friendly countries will continue in the future.
The bilateral meeting was attended by Senior Secretary of ICT Department NM Zeaul Alam, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Director General of Digital Security Agency Md Khairul Amin and Third Secretary of Russia in Bangladesh Anton Varisen among others.
Apart from the meeting, the State Minister showed the BGD e-Gov CIRT Library, their activities, various initiatives of iLab for young entrepreneurs to the Russian delegation. Meanwhile, BDGD e-GOV CIRT Director Tarek Mosaddek Barkatullah, a2i Project Director Dewan Muhammad Humayun along with the State Minister highlighted the capabilities of Bangladesh in front of the Russian delegation.
