Bangladesh will one day make modern aircraft. Bangladesh will be the leader in the aviation industry in the world. On Saturday (August 27) such dreams were shown by Aviation Challenge Bangladesh. The childhood dreams woven in the afternoon flew into the evening sky.
Future inventors and engineers made 11 airplanes with the help of mentors at the American International University- AIUB located in Kuril of the capital. Among them, three planes flew in the sky. This is how the little aeronauts painted the month of mourning with strength.
Around 100 children along with their parents/guardians enthusiastically gathered at the ‘Aviation Challenge Bangladesh’ venue within 2 PM to participate in this exceptional event of ‘Bangladesh Innovation Forum’ and ‘Space Innovation Camp’. After registering their names, they wore polo shirts in the design of NASA and took the ‘Innovation’ batch across their chests. A total of 89 children participated in 14 groups. They were taught the basics of flying in different age groups. There, besides learning the names of all types of parts of the aircraft, they also learned about its operation and scientific explanation from Mentors. Some of these groups even built a prototype aircraft from scratch. In the afternoon, they flew those planes in the field. There, the organizers handed over certificates along with medals among the participants.
The organizers said that this event was to further increase the science practice among children and teenagers and to encourage children and teenagers to develop science and technology through various fun science projects where the children made planes by themselves divided into different groups and flew it themselves under the supervision of mentors. Through this, they basically learned about various aeronautical parts, learned about the past history of the planes, and understood how the plane flies and how its engine works.
Naheed Sultana Mallick, Joint Project Director of a2i and Joint Secretary, ICT Division, was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony held after awarding the junior ‘engineers’ in the evening. In his speech, he said – “This kind of organization will develop innovative thinking of children and also make them interested in learning about new technologies. He also said that these children of today will illuminate the face of Bangladesh all over the world by making a technological revolution in Bangladesh in the future.”
Dean of Engineering Faculty of American International University of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, was the program chair in the event. He said – “There is a need for such an organization in Bangladesh and adequate guidelines are needed for that. He called upon the teaching community to come forward to give that guideline.”
On behalf of the organizers, President of Bangladesh Innovation Forum Ariful Hasan Apu said, “Basically, we have organized this program to introduce science to children through various fun projects and games. We believe that through this program they learn science, technology, engineering and mathematics, problem solving methods, team work etc.” He also expressed that this event will be held outside Dhaka in the future.
American International University- AIUB was the venue partner while the technical partners for the event were: Brutex Technology Limited and its subsidiaries Pridesys IT Limited, HB Aviation Training Center, Tech Terrain IT Limited, Dreamerz Lab Limited, Cloud Live BD, Enigma TV and Events Fluent.
