Kazi Arafatul Islam Insaf, a student of Feni University’s CSE department, has made it to the final round of the national-level apps competition BDApps Hackathon. He achieved this success by creating a Bengali learning game for expatriate Bengali children. Apart from Insaf, 8 more teams from Chittagong region were selected for the central stage final round out of 60 teams. The teams are – Centillion, Team Amigo, BabyTube, Jeet Bangladesh, The Sangu, Sisters, Safe Track and Path.
BDApps’ second regional hackathon was held on August 20 at Chittagong Independent University. In which the selected teams of Chittagong division took part including Chittagong, Comilla, Noakhali and Chittagong Hill Tracts. Independent University Science and Engineering Club has worked as an organizing partner for the Chittagong phase of Hackathon. A total of 50 teams participated in this phase of the hackathon out of which the best 9 teams were selected to represent Chittagong Division in the national phase.
The team ZeroOneLab lead by Insaf placed second in the competition. His partner in this team was Bayezid Shahriar, a student of EEE department of Chittagong Institute of Engineering Technology.
Dean of Engineering Department of Independent University Professor Dr. Rezaul Karim, founder of Startup Chittagong Arafatul Islam Akib, AW Communication Founder Saber Shah, Robi Axiata Limited Manager Rezwan Arefin, Business-Engagement Head Muhammad Altamish Nabeel, Hackathon Chief Coordinator Maher Asif and BDApps Chittagong Head Mohammad Arif Hasan and teachers from various universities in Chittagong and many others were present in the event.
The top ten teams in the final round of this national hackathon will get a total prize of five lakh Taka, of which the champion team will get two lakh Taka. BDApps, an initiative of Robi Axiata Ltd. has been recognized as the National Appstore of Bangladesh by the ICT Division. It was recently awarded the Bangladesh Innovation Award in the category of Best Innovation in Community Engagement.
BDApps received an honorable mention in the category of Best Innovation in SDG Incorporation. The platform currently has 30,000 developers who have created more than 50,000 applications. The final round of this competition will be held in Dhaka with different teams selected from a total of 5 regions across the country.
