Scratch Programming Teachers’ Follow-up Camp organized by EMK Center and Bangladesh Open Source Network held on Friday (August 12). 17 primary school teachers participated under the ‘Scratch Programming for Tech Advancement’ project. The camp was held at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Mohammadpur.
The project ‘Scratch Programming for Tech Advancement’ was started with the aim of spreading programming knowledge among students by improving the coding skills of primary school teachers and publishing scratch programming books in Bengali.
Note that on June 2, 3, 4, under the same project, the said teachers participated in a 3-day intensive camp and received training in scratch programming and started teaching scratch programming to students in their respective schools.
BM Mainul Hasan, Associate Professor of IIT, Dhaka University; Mollah Rashid Hossain, Assistant Professor of CSE Department, University of Asia Pacific; Munir Hasan, General Secretary of BdOSN and Nasir Khan Saikat, Assistant Editor were present as trainers in the camp.
Santahar Harvey Government Primary School teacher Ratan Kumar Basak participated in this camp. He said, many students are interested in scratch programming and those who have devices come to practice. If they get enough devices and right motivation in school they can go ahead which will enhance their thinking ability.
Raonak Afroza, Head Teacher of Haji Sadar Ali Government Primary School who participated in the camp, said that there is no official supply of laptops and projectors in the school. There are very few opportunities to work as you have to collect personal laptops and laptops from other schools.
