“Technology is not a substitute for human beings, but a partner of human beings,” said Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar. So we need to focus on building robots. We will build robots and with the robots or machines we have created, the developed world will meet the shortage of their population.
Expressing hope that the robot made by the children of Bangladesh will be exported abroad one day, the minister advised not to be afraid of anyone for fear that the robot will take the place of the people. At the same time, he reminded the engineers of their responsibility to contribute to building a nation dependent on digital technology and urged them to come forward to play a role.
Mostafa Jabbar made the call while addressing a seminar on ‘Application of Robotics and Automation in Bangladesh Targeting 4IR’ at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) on Tuesday (July 5).
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said, “Childhood is the right time to acquire knowledge. My career started with journalism. To improve the mother tongue, it is necessary to improve the alphabet first. They need to use technology. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman also wanted the use of language to be improved. We could not make the third industrial revolution. The technological revolution started in 1996. If Sheikh Hasina had not formed the government, it would have been impossible to build today’s digital Bangladesh.”
He said that robots, blockchains or any other technology is coming to work as a supportive force of human beings but in no case can technology be an alternative power of human beings.
He added that Sheikh Hasina’s party was the first political party to use technology for election campaigns. Sheikh Hasina’s family is a technology based family. The Prime Minister is modern in thought and mind.
BUET Professor Dr. Sheikh Anwarul Fattah presented the Key-note article in the seminar. Basic education in robotics and automation needs to be introduced everywhere, he said. Over time, rapid action must be taken to keep pace with the changing times. There is no substitute for robotics and automation to meet the challenges ahead.
Honorable General Secretary of IEB Shahadat Hossain Shiblu welcomed the seminar. IEB Vice President Engineer Md. Nuruzzaman; Khandaker Md. Manjur Morshed, Assistant General Secretary Engineer Ranak Ahsan also spoke among others.
IEB Secretary for Electrical Engineering Department Engineer Abu Sufian Mahbub Limon conducted the seminar while Engineer Md. Abdur Razzak presided over the seminar.
