In order to buy and sell any product or service commercially online, from now on those enterprises or organizations have to register the business. On Thursday, June 30, 2022 the Ministry of Commerce unveiled the Digital Business Identity (DBID) policy under the Digital Commerce Policy 2018 to restore order in the e-commerce sector and create a credible environment between buyers and sellers.
According to the guidelines signed by Hafizur Rahman, director general of the digital commerce cell under the ministry, the registration can be completed only with a national identity card. And this DBID number must be mentioned wherever the business is conducted on the website or social media. Those who are already conducting such business will have to apply for DBID within the next 90 days.
If an organization is already registered in the name of the applicant or the original owner has complained, his subsequent application will be rejected by automatic e-mail. DBID can also be issued on the recommendation of the concerned organization if the applicant organization is a member of SME Foundation, e-CAB or any other trade association approved by the digital commerce organization. Branch activities in the organization will also be conducted under the same ID.
