Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed hope that the Padma Bridge will be included in the engineering lesson. She expressed such conviction at the inauguration ceremony of the dream come true project Padma Bridge at the Mawa end of Munshiganj on Saturday, June 25, 2022. In her speech, the daughter of Bangabandhu highlighted the need to bring broadband internet in digital Bangladesh at the village level also.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister quoted from a poem of Sukanta Bhattacharya saying ‘Well done, Bangladesh, the world looks at you in profound amazement. Burnt and destroyed, but not to bow the head.’ Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujib did not bow his head. He did not teach to bow one’s head. Under his leadership we have achieved independence. We follow none but him, she added.
At the beginning of her speech, she wished peace of mind to the people involved in the implementation of this bridge, including the Engineer Jamilur Reza Chowdhury and those who have passed away.
Sheikh Hasina said the implementation of the Padma Bridge was a difficult challenge in terms of technology and technicality. The quality of the bridge has not been compromised. This bridge is built with the latest technology and materials in the world. Its foundation is by far the deepest in the world. Sophisticated technology has been used to prevent earthquakes. Due to such more special features, I believe that the construction method of this bridge will be included in the engineering lessons all over the world. Because, it is a wonder. People have the opportunity to learn a lot from it. I believe that generation after generation, engineering students will be able to learn from this.
‘This bridge is not just a bridge. Its 42 piers are a reflection of a prosperous Bangladesh. Bangabandhu said, no one can keep us suppressed. No one could. We have won’- added the Prime Minister.
