Calling on the universities to create uninterrupted opportunities in information technology and science, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said the youth would be able to turn Bangabandhu’s independent Bangladesh into a golden Bengal. We need to empower those young people and educate them in the right way. For the youth to be able to take Bangladesh forward, uninterrupted opportunities of information technology and science must be provided. Young people will not only prepare for their work and employment. They will become entrepreneurs and provide jobs to many more people. In the same way, Bangabandhu’s daughter, the peoples’ leader Sheikh Hasina dreamed of creating them and also created that environment as well.
This was stated by the Minister at the inaugural function of Nabin Baran (Fresher’s Reception) and inauguration of Blended Learning Solution invented by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Bangladesh on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
“We have not looked at the world rankings of universities so far,” she said. But when we looked into the matter, BUET, Dhaka University has come a long way in the world rankings. Now many of our universities will improve in the world rankings.
Dr. Dipu Moni further said that our new education curriculum is being formulated. Which will be launched from next year. Introducing educational activities in the new curriculum is a challenge. We have to take bold steps to face all the challenges.
In just 4 years of its establishment, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Munaj Ahmed Noor, the university has run an office on a virtual machine for the first time; the Minister thanked the concerned in this connection.
She thanked and congratulated the University authority for the providing of ICT dependent classrooms, e-library facilities for conducting academic activities of students and computer and language laboratory, physics laboratory, IoT laboratory, electronics laboratory, data center, interactive digital board, Learning Management System (LMS), Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), My BDU Mobile Apps, Exam Management System (EMS) Installation, Student Access Card Issuance, Web Hosting and Domains, Google G-Suite for Education Provisioning, Proctored Remote Exam System Software Development, setting up a Data Management and Analytics, laboratory, providing blended classroom solutions, launching blended learning support live classrooms.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Munaz Ahmed Noor said, “Today’s digital Bangladesh is the modern form of Bangabandhu’s dream of golden Bengal. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman embarked on a technology-oriented journey in 1973 by becoming a member of the International Telecommunication Union. Today’s Digital Bangladesh has been established under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Vice-Chancellor further said that the changes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution must be included in our education system. Because this fourth industrial revolution will create a new society by combining these three things, man, technology and nature. We have to organize our education system based on what this society will look like. The Fourth Industrial Revolution will bring about changes in the future society, the future work and the future economy. We need to build our education system keeping these three things in mind.
Md. Ashrafuzzaman, Head (Additional Responsibility) of the Education Department of the University and Farzana Akhter, Acting Head of the Information and Communication Technology Department conducted the program while the Registrar (Additional Responsibilities) of the University Md.
