Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar said that in the digital age, it is impossible to achieve complete education without the use of digital technology. The role of the teaching community is immense in empowering the future generation with digital technology. He stressed on the need to build the institutional capacity of educational institutions to make the students up-to-date.
The Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the handing over ceremony of Computer Lab and Laptop in the Statistics Department of Chittagong University at BTRC on Thursday at the initiative of Alumni Association of the Statistics Department of Chittagong University.
Highlighting the program adopted for the spread of digital education, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said that the government is committed to establish a knowledge-based digital equitable society through digital transformation of education. He said the government has already taken initiative to expand digital education in the country through mixed education system. This pioneer of education digital transformation said that it is very important to ensure full digital education for a full digital Bangladesh. There is no alternative to digitalizing the entire education system.
The Minister said, “The three main challenges in this regard are digital content creation, digital connectivity and accessibility of digital devices. We are now on the path of mixed education as it is difficult for a country like ours to meet all the challenges and transform education digitally in one step.
On the occasion, the Minister handed over 20 laptops to Professor Mohammad Ruknuzzaman, Chairman, Department of Statistics, University of Chittagong. Shyam Sundar Sikder, Chairman, BTRC and Adviser, Statistics Alumni Association, Chittagong University was present on the occasion.
Walton Laptop Distribution and Lab was inaugurated for the Department of Statistics, University of Chittagong.
