The second most important compulsory ritual of the Muslim community is fasting in the month of Ramadan. To this end, a science lecture titled “Health Benefits of Ramadan” was held on Monday (March 28, 2022) at the National Museum of Science and Technology.
135 students of Darunnajat Siddiquia Kamil Madrasa in the capital took part in this science based lecture on health and mental development of fasting in terms of science and Islam. It presented a scientific analytical data on the physical benefits of fasting in Ramadan.
Md. Tanjim Islam, Md. Roknuzzaman and Md. Kamrul Hasan participated in the discussion session.
During the speech, Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, “Fasting destroys germs and bacteria in the body, strengthens metabolic activities and destroys cancer cells.”
He added: “Physicians, scientists and researchers across the country have proven that fasting has endless physical benefits. Even gastric and diabetic patients have lower levels of the disease during fasting and return to physical stability. Through fasting, people get closer to God Almighty and empathy for the poor people in the society is created.”
The visiting students who attended the event visited the mobile science exhibitions and the museum. Students were also given a memento by the Science Museum.
