Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar has claimed the freedom to offer unlimited packages on mobiles from the regulatory body BTRC so that customers can use their purchased packages as long as they wish.
He asserted this right at his own initiative before launching a ‘Happy Inauguration’ of the implementation of package guidelines on data of mobile phone operators in the BTRC conference room on Tuesday.
According to the new package, when the operators were presenting their packages one after the other, this pioneer of establishing internet as a fundamental right objected as there was a time limit for its use. “I want customers to use the data they want to buy,” he said. Everyone said that I bought my data with money, as long as I am happy to use it. However, if any operator wants to provide the opportunity to use this as long as they wish, then the question arises that what will be the speed.
In response, BTRC Director General Brigadier General Nasim Parvez said, “Everything will have limit to international practice and accounting.” Replying this question the minister said, “Of course there will be a limit; Because when I buy data from ISPs, there is no limit. If I want speed as a normal person or user. ….. Telecom operators also buy speed. Buying speed, they sell data. And where is the problem if one wants to use unlimited data that sells data by buying this speed? I know the operator will not agree. If they can do it with data fraud. But it is the responsibility of the state to look after the interests of the people.”
Then Mostafa Jabbar took a deep breath and said, “I will make this request. If anyone wants to give this unlimited option, BTRC will not be able to create its obstacle.”
The BTRC chairman, who was sitting on his left, agreed to the demand. Thanking the consent, the minister said that if anyone feels concerned for the people, they can use the data as much as they want. For this he will do the pricing like him.
Operators will be welcomed to take this opportunity at this time, said BTRC Director General. And at the end of the ceremony, the matter was confirmed to be included in the package policy.
