Sony Interactive Entertainment is set to acquire Ex- Halo Videogame and Destiny’s maker Bungie Inc. Sony will have to spend $ 3.6 billion on the acquisition to further advance itself in the competitive gaming market. News Reuters.
In a blog post, the US gaming company said that Bungie will be added to Sony’s PlayStation family. Japanese multinationals have been acquiring or investing in recent times to strengthen their in-house gaming studio network.
Microsoft’s Xbox console competes with Sony’s PlayStation. The software giant spent $ 69 billion to buy Activision Blizzard, the maker of Call of Duty in early January. As a result, it is clear that the technology giants are giving importance to the potential market in gaming.
Before owning the IPO in 2007, Microsoft owned Washington-based Bungie. Since then, the company has been working on Halo video game series. Bungie has also worked on marathons and myth games.
Bungie will now hire more skilled manpower for the Destiny Game 2 studio. The video game was previously released by Activision Blizzard, which is now owned by Microsoft.
It is learned that Bungie will operate as an independent unit of Sony Interactive Entertainment. The board will be led by Pete Parsons, its chief executive officer.
