A seminar has been held at Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) on various uses of nano-technology in daily life including preparation of medicines, production and conservation of energy, production of electrical products. At the same time, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Center for Nanotechnology at Kopin State University in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
The seminar titled ‘Nano Technology: Small Things Matter and Have Power to Transform Energy, Health and the Environment’ was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Gallery of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Academic Building on Tuesday afternoon.
Being connected virtually to the seminar, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Anwar Hossain spoke as the chief guest of the seminar. He said that at present the teachers and students of this university have become more focused on research than before. For this reason, JUST is located near the big universities and research institutes of Bangladesh in the field of education and research. “If expatriates from different countries of the world come to such seminars responsibly and cooperate in joint research, then we will be benefited,” he said. JUST is always interested in joint research with the expatriates who are scattered in different countries of the world.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr. Kopin, Director, Center for Nanotechnology, Kopin State University, Baltimore, Maryland Jamal Uddin. He highlighted various aspects of the use of nanotechnology, including drug preparation, drug development, energy generation and conservation. At the end of the seminar, a seminar titled ‘Career Growth and Sustainability During These Pandemic Cursed Worlds’ was held at the same venue. The original article was presented by the managing director of Dream Online Limited Md. Zulfiqar Ali. This was followed by another seminar on ‘Tips for Higher Education: Foreign University’. In it, those who have come to the country with higher degrees from abroad, share their experiences.
At the end of the seminars, project/poster exhibition competition was also organized with the participation of students of different years. In this competition 55 different types of projects/posters were displayed. Prizes and certificates will be handed over to the winners of the competition at a convenient time.
In the afternoon, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Dean’s Office of Engineering and Technology Faculty between Kopin State University Center for Nanotechnology in Baltimore, Maryland and Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) to implement various goals including joint collaboration in education and research. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Registrar of the University, Engineer Md. Ahsan Habib and the Director of the Center for Nano-Technology, Prof. Dr. Jamal Uddin.
EEE Department Chairman Dr. Md. Tanvir Hasan Presided over the day-long program while Dr. Md. Amjad Hossain, Associate Professor of the same department presented the program. Among others those who attended the program were the member of the Regent Board of JUST Professor Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid, Dean Professor Dr. Syed Md. Ghalib and Professor Dr. Md. Ziaul Amin, Chairman of the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME) Professor Dr. HM Zakir Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Chemical Engineering Dr. Md. Javed Hossain Khan, Chairman of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems (AIS) Dr. Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Textile Engineering (TE) Dr. Chanchal Kumar Kundu, director of the International Service Center Dr. Md.
