Awami League MP Nazim Uddin Ahmed demanded the Information Ministry to shut down the widely used platform YouTube, alleging various types of propaganda.
He made the demand while participating in a discussion on the motion of thanks on the President’s speech in Parliament on Monday (January 17th).
In his speech, the MP from Mymensingh-3 constituency said, “I watched ‘Khaleda Zia is dying’ on YouTube. ‘Sheikh Hasina is going to be deposed tomorrow’. Again I see the army chiefs being dragged down. This is the propaganda we see on YouTube. Where are these coming from? Confusion is being spread in this way, we do not understand does the Ministry of Information do. ‘You will wake up tomorrow morning and hear that Sheikh Hasina is not in power’ – these are the words they say, we are stunned. They spread itt as true facts. In this way people are misled. The people of the villages swatch all this and think, we do not know what is happening in Bangladesh! I will tell the Ministry of Information to shut down YouTube if necessary. We cannot have any compromise with criminals and anti liberation forces.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was also present at the meeting, which was chaired by the Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
