Twenty-four students of eight residential halls of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) have been tested as COVID-19 positive. BUET’s Director of Student Welfare (DSW), Professor Mizanur Rahman, confirmed the matter on Sunday (January 15th).
He said that since the onset of corona attack, some students have been infected. But in the last two days, the rate is increasing. Now there are COVID-19 positive students in every hall. According to the latest information, 24 students of eight halls have been tested as COVID—19 positive.
He also said that arrangements are being made to send the victims to their homes as there is no separate accommodation to isolate the patients.
Meanwhile, BUET authorities have announced that classes will be conducted online from Saturday due to the upward transmission of corona since the beginning of the new year. The university administration issued a notification in this regard on January 12.
It was informed that the decision of online class has been taken in the 474th session of the Academic Council. According to the decision of the meeting, theory classes, class tests and laboratory classes for students of all levels/terms of July-2021 term at the undergraduate level of the university will be held online from January 15 until further notice.
