In the 35th year of its establishment, the electoral wind has started blowing in Bangladesh Computer Samity. According to the deadline, BCS elections may be held by next March. As always, 7 directors will be elected centrally, along with the election of eight branch committees of Khulna, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Chittagong, Jessore, Barisal, Mymensingh and Comilla will be held at the same time.
However, before that, the concerned people think that the election will be held on December 25 through the grand gathering of the members.
Because in the meantime, according to the rules, the Election Board and the Election Appeal Board have been formed to conduct the election activities for the election of the Executive Committee and Branch Committee for the period 2022-2024.
Shafqat Haider, chairman of Ciproco Computers Limited, is the chairman of the board formed to elect the guardians of the 2,500-member family. The three-member selection board includes Atiq E Rabbani, managing director of The Computers Limited and Sheikh Kabir Ahmed, managing director of Oratech Consulting Limited.
Also on the Election Appeal Board headed by Mozammel Hoque, Chairman, Digital Services Limited, are Mamluk Sabir Ahmed, Managing Director, Computer Services Limited and Abul Kalam Azad, Tracer Electronics Member.
According to sources, the Election Commission will announce the election schedule in a meeting after the annual general meeting of BCS on December 26. However, before that, the election will be held in a day-long ‘BCS 35 years celebration’ at Subarnagram Amusement Park and Resort in Narayanganj-Rupganj Bhulta on Saturday. Candidates will try to understand the attitude of the voters from there. Planning Minister Md. Abdul Mannan will be the chief guest on the occasion.
The last election of Bangladesh Computer Samity or BCS for the term of 2020-22 was held on March 14, 2020.
