Dr. Manjurul Haque, Associate Professor, Fisheries and Marine Bio-Science and Tarun Sen, Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting and Information Systems (AIS) have been elected unopposed as members of the Academic Council, the highest authority in the field of education of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST)
On Tuesday afternoon, the Election Commission constituted on the occasion of the election of the members of the Academic Council from among the Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and Lecturers, declared them uncontested. According to Section 22 of the Jessore University of Science and Technology Act 2001, the academic council decides on all issues related to education including setting goals and objectives of all academic activities of the university, formulation of academic programs and related plans, standardization and preservation of education-training and examination. The position of the Academic Council is next to the Board of Regents, the highest policy-making forum of the University.
According to the information provided by the Election Commission, two persons were elected as members of the Academic Council from among the Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and Lecturers in accordance with Section 22 J and J of the Jessore University of Science and Technology Act 2001. University Treasurer Prof. Md. Abdul Majid, Director (Planning, Development and Works) Paritosh Kumar Biswas and Deputy Registrar Mohammad Emdadul Haque acted as the Chief Election Commissioner in this election of the Academic Council.
