Android users were in a lot of trouble in a bug related to ‘Microsoft Teams’. The victims could not communicate with the emergency services by phone by calling 999 due to the “unexpected communication” error.
Confirming the two bugs, Google said it was able to identify the software bug and was working to resolve it. Reportedly, a small percentage of devices that have Microsoft Teams installed but have not logged in have the problem.
Both Google and Microsoft have been advised to log in to the Teams app before releasing an update to fix the bug. That said, the bug complication can be temporarily resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
Verge said the root cause of the bug was the “unexpected communication” of the Teams app and the Android operating system. However, many users have speculated that since the Microsoft Teams app has the ability to make voice calls, the app was also trying to take emergency service phone calls from the default phone app. And that is the beginning of that embarrassment.
As this bug interferes with communication with emergency services, both Microsoft and Google are taking it seriously. To fix the bug, Microsoft will release an update soon.
Although Google and Microsoft tried to reassure users about the new bug, users were apprehensive.
