The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission- BTRC has conducted on-site inspections at several places in Mymensingh district, including several offices of Millennium Computers and Networking, a zonal ISP of Mymensingh division.
In a surprise operation conducted on Thursday, BTRC inspection team found evidence that Millennium Computers and Networking was setting up and using illegal optical fiber transmission network in various surrounding districts, including Mymensingh district.
The team then made an on-the-spot visit to the Network Operations Center of Anik Computer & Networking, another zonal ISP organization including Millennium Computers & Networking in Mymensingh.
At the time, there was evidence that the two ISPs were not complying with the terms and conditions of the relevant licenses and guidelines, including the use of illegal Google and Facebook cache servers without approval from the BTRC. The company seized 6 illegal Google Cache servers and 3 Facebook Cache servers from two.
According to the provisions of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation Act, 2001, necessary legal action will be taken against the two companies, said a source close to the BTRC.
