China is aiming to build more than a thousand atomic bombs by 2030.
The Pentagon has said in a statement that it is concerned about China’s nuclear arsenal.
Citing a report by the Military and Security Developments involving the People’s Republic of China (PRC) 2021, the Pentagon said China has been investing heavily in developing nuclear projects since 2020. The government had set a target of building a nuclear weapon by 2030, but this year China plans to drop its production target to 700 by 2027 and 1,000 by 2030.
The Pentagon said in a statement that “China has decided to spend a lot of money on building water, land and air platforms for launching bombs, including nuclear ballistic missiles.” They have already started working towards that goal.’
However, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, despite the expansion of nuclear power, Beijing still lags behind the United States. They have 350 nuclear warheads. The United States has 550 and Russia has 6,255.
