The Board of Directors of Evaly, formed by the High Court, held its first meeting at its Dhanmondi office in the capital.
The meeting started at 12 noon on October 26 and lasted for about two hours. After the meeting, former Justice HM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik said the board of directors would work to save the institution.
The meeting was attended by Mahbub Kabir Milon, Additional Secretary in charge of Evaly Managing Director, Fakhruddin Ahmed, Chartered Accountant, and Barrister Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz, a lawyer who specializes in company law, and Mohammad Rezaul Ahsan, former Secretary.
Meanwhile, customers and merchants gathered in front of the company’s office around the meeting of the board of directors of Evaly. They called for the release of Evaly managing director Mohammed Russel as well as giving Evaly MD time to run the business.
Earlier, on September 22, an application was lodged to the company court to form a committee to end Evaly. In view of this, on October 18, the High Court constituted a five-member board headed by former Justice of the Appellate Division HM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik to manage Evali.
