The Chinese version of LinkedIn is set to close by the end of this year. The company has to make this decision as the operating environment in the country has become more stringent and the amount of conditions has increased. News Engadget.
In a statement, LinkedIn said, “While we have had success in helping Chinese citizens find jobs and open the door to economic opportunities, we have not had much success in terms of social sharing and access to information.”
LinkedIn is not completely withdrawing business from China. Although the Chinese version of LinkedIn has been discontinued, the company is working to bring a new standalone job board app called Injobs. There will be no opportunity to share any social feed or posts and articles.
The Microsoft-owned service is the latest major social network in the United States to be officially launched in China. Earlier this year, China shut down Signals and Clubhouse. Facebook and Twitter have been shut down in the country since 2009. And Instagram has been closed since 2014.
