The Youth Summit on Aging-2021 titled “Digital Equality Available to All Ages” has started. The summit will run until October 25. As part of the summit, a training workshop on ‘Veterans in Technology’ was held on Wednesday on how to ensure maximum use of information technology by seniors using mobile phones.
The 5th edition of the Summit is being held this year jointly organized by the Social Business Students Forum and the Aging Support Forum of Daffodil International University. Elders from different parts of the country are participating in the summit.
The summit was inaugurated by Major General Jeeban Kanai Das, Country Director of the Sir William Beverage Foundation, as the chief guest at the Daffodil Education Network campus. Editor of Daily Ittefaq Tasmima Hossain and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University Prof. Dr. Mohammad Masum Iqbal were present. President of Aging Support Forum Hasan Ali presided over the function. Former BSCIC general manager Manjuara Begum, SBSF vice-president Rakibul Islam, general secretary Mehdi Hassan Khan and Kazi Mesbah-ur-Rahman, a senior administrative officer at Daffodil International University were also present in the program.
Speaking as the chief guest, Major General Jeeban Kanai Das said, “We don’t know how much information and opportunities are available on our mobiles, but today we have the opportunity to discover them.” Thanking the mentors of the event, he said, “Today we understand that the way our young generation mentored us, the country is safe in their hands in the future.” For the elderly, he said, age is just a number. You still have a lot to enjoy.
